Install apps of any of the above services that track your music and/ or video preferences, while you are listening… If you choose to make your music history public (like I do), you can show your friends what you are listening to. Your anonymous data is used in scientific research.

If you install BOINC on your desktop/ laptop, then the following will happen when your computer is connected to the internet and you are not using it (idle):
- your computer will receive ‘raw data’ from science labs of the most reputed universities of the world
- This data consists of astronomical, geological, genetic, chemical, etc. information which needs to be analyzed by a processor/ CPU (Intel, AMD ryzen, etc), which is in your computer
- After finishing the analysis of the data, your computer CPU will send the results back to the lab
- This is done because processing power is expensive and when your computer is just sitting idle, it can make great contributions to scientific research
- When you start working on your computer again, then BOINC automatically halts, so that your work is not disturbed!
